ANSWERS TO QUIZ ON DEFENDING AGAINST THE MULTI
1. 2ª Ideal for the bid, a non-forcing take-out of hearts.
2. Pass. Good holdings in both majors suggest a possible penalty, so pass intending to double next time round to show a strong balanced hand.
3. Double. Showing an opening bid including hearts.
4. Pass. Presumably opener has hearts so pass intending to bid 3C next to show clubs and spades.
5. 2ª A weak hand with a long suit - much as if partner had opened 1NT, you can be sure of some support for spades.
6. Double. For penalties - again this is very similar to the situation where partner has opened 1 NT and the.next hand overcalls.
